Why is group support helpful in eating disorder recovery?
Many people who struggle with eating disorders share about feeling alone in the journey, like they’re the only one who has ever gone through the various challenges faced while working on recovery. Isolation is often a tool of the ED, but creating a community of support is an important step in recovery.
More information about the support groups:
Who is this for? Women (18 years and older) who are working on recovery from an eating disorder and are looking for more support and community as they recover.
What will the group look like? What will we talk about? We will meet virtually, over Google Meet. We will all share a brief check in, and will discuss topics or questions that have been submitted about ED recovery to talk about as a group. People are also welcome to process something from the past week around food/nutrition or receive support in eating a meal or snack. This will also be a time for everyone to eat either a meal or snack, depending on the time of day and what makes sense for you
When will we meet?
- Morning support group – Thursdays at 10am (Central time). Bring a breakfast or snack
Meetings are 1 hour long.
Cost of group sessions – Group sessions may be billed through insurance (Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Sanford Health Plan, Medica, and United Healthcare only). For those not utilizing insurance, out-of-pocket costs are $35 per session.
These are open groups, so you are welcome to attend as often as you are able. If you are not a current client at BethanyRD Nutrition, you will be asked to complete a 1:1 intake session before starting the group.
